Fixed Broadband Service

What Is That Thing They Call a Fixed Wireless

Fixed Wireless (used for delivering fixed internet broadband connection) is a microwave-based technology that transmits voice and data between two fixed microwave dishes. One microwave dish is on the sender’s end and another on the receiver’s end.  Voice and data being transmitted reaches these fixed terminals (similar to a cell phone tower), offering mission critical internet access.

Two Types of Fixed Wireless System:

Fixed wireless technology makes use of transmission towers or ground stations that are interloped and also linked with customer’s location. The installed equipment on these towers communicate with wireless ground stations. Communicating only with ground stations, fixed wireless broadband doesn’t communicate in outer space like satellite internets do.

Pros & Cons of Fixed Wireless Broadband

Fixed wireless broadband is high speed internet access provider that fulfills the internet requirements of the commercial users & private residents, using technologies like T1, Cable, DSL & FiOS (Fiber Optic Service). But like every service delivery, it has its ups & downs.

Pros:

Quick Installation: Takes considerable time to be installed and become operational, somewhere between 7 days to 30 days.

Secure & 24/7 Availability: Is delivered with encrypted line of sight connectivity. You can rely on this network around the clock.

Event-Based Service: Fixed Wireless internet services can be accessed for temporary special events (corporate events, conferences, concerts, trade shows etc.) with full scalability & security.

Diverse Network: Widespread ‘last mile’ access ensure your network is running in case of a wire line outage.

Inexpensive: Compared to any wired connection, fixed wireless internet costs are minimized by two third.

Scalable: You can get the scalable bandwidth anywhere between 1 Mbps to 1 GB

No Latency: Unlike satellite the webpages in fixed wireless system do not need long to be loaded, given the fact that it only beams signals in a few miles.

Efficient: Doesn’t require messy cable to be placed in an area for providing internet acess.

Cons:

No Mobility: As indicated in the name, fixed wireless internet access can be availed in a fixed physical space and is not mobile.

Geographical Limitations: Due to its line-of-sight connectivity requirement, fixed wireless broadband is useless near hilly areas and forest locales.

Pricier: May cost more per Mbps as compared to other kinds of broadband service.
